Overview of University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES)

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private university in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. The University is sponsored by Hydrocarbon Education Research Society (HERS),which is registered under the ‘Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860’ (Registration No. S-41894 of 2002). UPES is maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.

Placement Details of University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES)

Placements 2019-2020

Placements 2019-2020 have begun on a high note at UPES with 2023 placements and with 2475 offers from top-notch companies to date*.

One of the students, Saksham Kumar, from B. Tech Computer Science Engineering, has received the highest package of INR 44 LPA so far from a leading gaming company in the Netherlands. Kamal Dua, Abhishek Paharva and Kartik Singh, also from the School of Computer Science, have each landed a package of INR 30 LPA.

School of Design has closed with 100 % placements in record time with an average CTC of INR 6.34 LPA.

The university boasts of a robust and successful Career Services Department. Its partnerships with industries ensure that the students have adequate exposure and get rapidly absorbed into professional roles on completion of their studies.

At UPES, the focus is on developing a world-class pool of young and talented professionals ready to hit the ground running in their respective fields. The learning environment and practical hands-on approach helps students go ahead on their chosen career paths with a positive attitude, the right skill set and practical know-how. Because of the relevant and ‘real world’ education and ‘on the job’ exposure, the industry-readiness of UPES students has been one of the key differentiators.

Placements 2018-2019

The University has placed 94 % of graduates, who were eligible and those who opted, for placements. The students received offers from leading national and international recruiters, including Accenture, Adani, Amazon, Anand & Anand, Ashok Leyland, Baker Hughes, Byjus, Decathlon, Dell R&D, Deloitte, Exxon Mobil, EY, FedEx, General Motors, Haliburton, Indian Navy, Infosys, L&T, LinkedIn, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle, ONGC, Protivity Global, Reliance, Schlumberger, Surana & Surana, Swiggy, Vedanta, etc.

Summer internships

Summer Internships are mandatory for all graduates and post-graduate students. The minimum duration of summer internships is six weeks and goes to a maximum of eight week.

Career Services Department and faculty members from respective domains play an important role in ensuring all students get an opportunity to experience corporate life and culture through these internships. Every year our students undergo summer internships with reputed organisations. Internships help students comprehend and develop their career interests, work with prospective employers and potentially secure job offers. Sector leaders across Aviation, Law, Oil and Gas, Power, Infrastructure, Logistics & Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Design, and Transportation etc., have shown interest in assessing the capabilities of our students through this internship-based engagement process.
